Commentary During Books Las edades de Lulú

This book was recommended to me by someone online in Spain. I've read a lot of erotica, good and bad, in my day. This book was so very different and quite beautiful and intimate to the point of tears once or twice. Highly recommend.

I didn't realise this was erotic literature when it was given to me. Some of the scenes were shocking. One of the things I liked best was it was not merely a string of sex scenes but had a lot about Lulu's character and development and her acceptance of this way of life. Recommended to people who aren't easily shocked and who want to know more about these sorts of s&m relationships.

This book disgusted me. The only normal sexual act in Las Edades de Lulú involves Lulú shaving her pubic hair so she will be more similar to the pre-pubertal girl she was when her lover first fell in love with her.My overall impression was that Almudena Grandes just wanted to shock her readers, there was not much else in it. I was not shocked, after studying Latin-American literature not much does, I was only apalled. After this novel I had to find something to read that no sex in it whatsoever.

Not recomended...

I cant really understand why on the back of the book it reads that Lulu was once a little girl who was having a lack of love during her childhood, I didnt find anything that indicates something like that in the entire reading ( she cant blame her twin brothers ) but on the other hand yes! she was actually behaving like a child trying to find excuses all her life to justify her sexual behaviour when all she always did, it was to enjoy it the most. Also something that calls my attention is that

An interesting read. I've read other books that have reached mainstream acknowledgement, while having a focus on erotic aspects. With this I feel it has hit a sweet spot more than most others. I find it hard to really comment directly on the plot as such, because it feels very much as a one of a kind - At least from my limited experience. I do like books that has something different and somewhat new. Or maybe not that new, but done in a way that works well. Rarely can I say that a book like that

I'm excited about this book. It's good, old fashioned erotica, the way god intended it.I picked a hell of a book for my first ever erotica novel experience. This book was not unlike Kill Bill or Shoot 'Em Up, where everthing is highly stylized and typified. Grandes seemed to choose the boldest, strangest, kinkiest and weirdest sexual things she could think of and added them to this novel. From transvestites to threesomes and incest, Grandes doles out every sexual taboo one can think of,
