Adjoa Andoh- what a wonderful narrator, she really made this book come alive for me. So many characters so, many voices needed and they were all easily distinguishable.A love story between two women, Eve and Libby and Jack.Eve is Jack's first wife who apparently had an accident and died- for a while he was a suspect. Then Libby comes along 3 years later and they fall in love and marry. Pretty perfect life, but Eve is always there in the background as Jack still loves her. He even has a cupboard"Vivi uma vida e embora tenha conhecido muita dor, também conheci muito amor. Algumas pessoas podem viver muito, muito tempo sem nunca chegar a viver essa experiência. Tenho muita sorte.*I have lived a life and even though I knew great pain, I also knew great love. Some people can live a long, long time without ever experiencing that. A really engaging and absorbing read. The way Dorothy Koomson has interwoven Eves story with that of Jack & Libby is very well done. The characters are very well-developed and the plot, although quite dark in places, is interesting and unpredictable. Even quite close to the end of the novel there were several directions the story could have taken. I think the relatively small cast of characters creates an intensity to the plot and a definite feeling of tension. 4-5 stars

This isn't a book I would ordinarily choose to read. But since my sister kept telling me to read it and I quite enjoyed another Koomson book, I was happy to give it a go.I liked it...with reservations.I'm not fond of some of the ways Koomson chose to tell this story. The switching povs were jarring at times. The diaries, while well structured, are not generally a form of story telling I'm fond of. And I loathe when a first person narrator refers to whatever secret a story holds and remains vague
the story is written in more than one narrative which makes you step into each character's shoes with more ease. Is it just me or have other readers found the author's notes at the end of the book describing how writing this book has made her look at beauty from another perspective, really interesting. I enjoyed the last two pages just as much as the rest of the book.
It's more like 3.5 starsThis was an interesting story. I liked the fact that she was told through different people Libby, Jack and later the diaries of Eve.I particulary loved the two final twists, they were unexpected.Overall i enjoyed this book.
From the time I had finished reading the prologue to this book I was hooked. I loved the plot, after a major accident Libby starts to question her relationship with Jack, and as she begins to investigate her questions only get bigger. She begins to find out more and more about Eve, his first wife who died in suspicious circumstances, and gets hooked on trying to find all the answers to her questions. When Libby finds Eve's diaries and begins to learn about her past and her relationship with Jack
